Question For The Day

Today’s question is…

What is one subject you don’t like to ever discuss in conversation with a friend?

  1. Depression. People don’t see it, so they think it’s not an issue. One can get through the day, treating those around them kindly, with a smile on his face, and still feel a sense of dread and hopelessness over seemingly innocuous, and minor occurrences.

    1. Definitely agreed. I might even go do far in saying my health issues in general is a taboo subject because it always turns into people offering me their suggestions or them telling me to just get over it.

  2. I have one friend that I can discuss anything with. The others? Not so much. Politics is a definite taboo topic with most of my friends, as is religion (I practice Buddhism. They don’t get that.) I do have friends in the practice, but no real intimate ones. I will say that politics is the one subject I try to avoid. Same thing in recovery. Religion and politics are out.

    1. Thank you for sharing Kris! I didn’t know if you knew this part about me, but I spent two years practicing nichren Buddhism and chanted the Gohozon several times a day. It is a great practice to help me focus.
