Jack Boland, Church of Today, Warren MI
He rose very high having everything money could buy.
He fell down becoming homeless;
Wife divorced him; he made a covenant with God stating he would build him a church if he would help him rebuild his life.
The church started as a store front early 70s, eventually Jack built the church open 18 hrs a day 7 days a week offering many programs (AA, 12-step and many others), a book store offering self help books, 2 church services on Sunday Morning with 1000 / 1500 people in attendance. I attended the church and several programs. Jack brought in well known writers & speakers. Jack rose even higher than before before. Jack transcended March ’92.
I attended church with a friend August ’95 or ’96. We were exchanging greetings to other attendees. I ask permission & hug the man beside me . The man cried. I thought what did I do. Later, I realized he cried because I was white & he was an African American and an alcoholic. Than I understood why he cried. I have not returned to the church. It has gone thru many changes.
