Grateful Heart Monday

It’s time to express my weekly entry of gratitude, as another Grateful Heart Monday has arrived, which for today is about my partner Chris’s and I’s recent three day Thanksgiving trip to Frankenmuth, a cozy German village situated 2.5 hours north in Michigan.

Usually every Thanksgiving, Chris and I choose to dine out locally for a holiday feast somewhere that has all those trimmings and such. But, this year we decided it would be nice to get away for a few days and try something new, so we took a drive up to Frankenmuth for a few days away. While we’ve been to Frankenmuth plenty of times before, this was the first time we opted to celebrate an actual holiday there and for multiple nights at that, which in the end we were glad we did. I figure it’s simply best to just list out all the things that I feel quite grateful for from our trip there, so here goes.

From our multiple visits to Bronner’s, a place that touts itself as the world’s largest Christmas store (something I absolutely agree with), to picking out new ornaments for our tree and a few for some friends as well, to a visit to the Frankenmuth Cheese Haus, a place that has just about every type of cheese you could imagine where each are available for sampling as well (a cheese lover’s paradise that’s for sure), to the several evenings of relaxation in the hot tub at the hotel we stayed in (something that felt really great for my aching back), to our meal at Tony’s in a nearby town (a restaurant that’s well known for being able to order a pound of bacon for $6 and getting mile high pies too), to our Thanksgiving meal at Zehnders (a family style German restaurant) that most definitely had all the necessary and quite scrumptious trimmings, to seeing the very uplifting “A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood” film (the new Tom Hanks Mister Rogers movie), to getting these collectible advent candles where we walked with hundreds of others in town with them lit for a tree lightning and early Christmas celebration, to having fellowship and laughter with my sponsee Charlie and his girlfriend and all of their kids at a local coffee shop when they showed up in town on our last day there, to our dinner at the Frankenmuth Brewery where I had the most amazing beer chili and a huge scrumptious salad topped with beer battered fish, and finally to my late evening peanut butter mocha I had at my favorite coffee house in town, the Harvest Coffee House and Beanery, where Chris and I played Crazy 8’s for about an hour until the placed was about to close for the night.

Overall, as you can see, I’m quite thankful for the great memories I have from Chris’s and I’s three-day Thanksgiving trip to Frankenmuth, Michigan, especially because my health issues didn’t seem to totally get in the way of me having a good time for once. So, thank You God for making this possible, and thank you Frankenmuth for continuing to be a place I truly look forward to going to time and time again, no matter what time of the year, including Thanksgiving now too!

Peace, love, light, and joy,
Andrew Arthur Dawson

Question Of The Day

Today’s question is two parts…and is based upon yesterday’s review of the Mister Roger’s film, “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.”

  1. Is there a movie that ever inspired you to be a better you? If so, what film?
  2. Is there a person who ever inspired you to be a better you? If so, whom?

Peace, love, light, and joy,
