Growing up in an alcoholic and dysfunctional home can frequently lead a child to believe that they are a burden in life to their parents. When a parent is actively battling some type of addiction such as alcohol or drugs, or is dealing with mental imbalances, the child often becomes neglected. Even worse, in many cases they also become the blame for their parents’ disease and their problems. This was definitely the situation in my own home with both my sister and I. The two of us grew up believing that we were always at fault for everything bad that happened there. We became convinced that we were a burden to our parents and sadly that continued well into our adulthood with any of the friendships and relationships we tried to develop. To combat that negative programming, I began to utilize the following mantra. It has helped me greatly to reprogram myself and I know it can help you as well if you have ever felt that you were a burden in life too.

Mantra For The Day – For Letting Go Of Those Past Burdens
Yesterday’s posting was focused solely on the dark path that can result from suppressing past pains and wounds. Essentially when someone does this, they carry the burdens of their past into the present and it isn’t healthy on any level. The individual who does this then becomes a wounded animal who spends their life living in fear and anguish. For years, I lived in self-pity and kept a huge wall around me for protection because of the burdens I was carrying from my past. All this did was prevent me from becoming a spiritual beacon of love and light that I am trying to become today. Something that has helped me to bring those past burdens up to the surface and release them is the use of a daily mantra. I encourage you to utilize this one if you happen to be someone who hasn’t been able to let go of your past…
Mantra For The Day – For Surrendering Your Will
Probably the greatest battle any of us face on this planet when we are walking a spiritual path is that which wages on between our self-will and our Higher Power’s will. I spent years trying to win a make-believe tug-of-war game with my Higher Power, whom I refer to today as God. I say that because I understand I have always had free will, except the more I’ve lived in it, the more I became miserable. That’s why I decided four years ago to begin turning more and more of my will and life over to God. To get there, one of the things I started utilizing was the use of a mantra and I know it’s worked. While I may still get frustrated at times with where God has my life, I find it’s a whole lot better than it was before I ever began using this tool. So if you want your Higher Power to take charge more in your life, I encourage you to try using the following mantra on a regular basis as well.
